I have been in 4-H for 3 years now, but this is my first year in the market animal project. For 2020 I chose to take part in the swine project. My pig is a Hampshire-cross, and his name is Roscoe. He was born on February 8, 2020. He is a super kind and funny pig. I loved going out to feed and walk him. He always makes me smile because he loves his marshmallow treats. He always comes running to the gate to see me, and loves getting brushed.

Although I have been a 4-H Cloverbud for 3 years, this is the first year I am able to exhibit in 4-H. I chose swine as my project this year. My pig’s name is Ash and he is a Berkshire. He was born on January 30, 2020. Ash has been fun to feed and work with. He especially likes his mud pool. He loves marshmallows as his treat. I have learned a lot about swine this year.

While I’m disappointed about the outcome, I would like to thank the community for all the support I have received over the last 13 years. I have enjoyed much success in my show career and have been truly blessed. This isn’t how I wanted my last year to end, but I have taken away many memories that I will cherish for a life time.

19 T_19.JPG"Taylor Belfeuil- Market Lamb " At the beginning of the year, I debated whether or not I should get a lamb for the year because of the corona virus and expecting that we would not have a fair. I could not handle the thought of not having lambs in the barn so I went out and found cheaper lambs for this year so that I could still work on them for the year in hopes that maybe some how we could have a fair. It broke my heart the night that I went to the fair board meeting and they cancelled everything. All my hard work had gone to waste. I continued working with them every day after this in hopes of having something take the place of it. Although everything got cancelled this year, I still got to practice clipping and working the lambs. It was a very fulfilling year and definitely a year that I will not forget. If you got this far, thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you consider supporting me and my goals in 4-H.

In addition to feeding and watering my lamb I also exercise my lamb daily to produce the best market animal I can. I really enjoy raising show pigs and being able to exhibit them at the county fair and livestock shows throughout the summer. Unfortunately, I was not able to take my pigs to any shows this year but I’m happy to be part of this sale. Scooter is a great pig and I feel would have been a top contender at our show. My favorite time of the year is visiting show pig facilities and trying to choose a really good prospect. Each year I learn more about judging show stock and raising raising them to their full potential.
